From the summit down to the lake

A proposal that allows you to reach the south side of this intriguing and varied peninsula. From Carona there is the possibility to visit the scenic San Grato Park, the Carona – Melide trail is a registered historic trail.

San Salvatore – Carona

You initially descend from the summit along a path that winds pleasantly through the woods. The intermediate stage at Ciona has a grotto and there is a postbus stop here, which connects Lugano and Carona. From here, a dirt road through the woods leads to the characteristic Carona, whose centre still retains its charm.

Carona – San Grato Park – Carona

Just a 15 minute walk from Carona there is the possibility to visit the scenic San Grato Park with its many attractions, all in all an extra hour's hike worth doing.

Carona – Melide

The Carona – Melide trail is a registered historic trail, a theme trail, steep and winding through the woods. In Melide, to round off the hike on a high note, there is the exciting Swissminiatur. If you want to continue by public transport, there is a train station and the possibility of returning by boat.
