The World of Giuseppe Palumbo

The Marco Lucchetti Art Gallery in Lugano in via Cattedrale 3, is pleased to present the exhibition "Trame d'Inchiostro: Il Mondo di Giuseppe Palumbo", an exhibition dedicated to one of the Italian Masters of contemporary comics. The exhibition traces Palumbo's artistic and professional career, highlighting his versatility, his ability to innovate and his contribution to the history of both Italian and international comics.

The inauguration in the presence of the Artist is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 10:00 am.

Who is Giuseppe Palumbo?

Born in Matera in 1964, Giuseppe Palumbo is an internationallyrenowned author, writer, illustrator and illustrator. With a background in archaeology, he made his debut in underground comics by publishing the character of Ramarro, the masochistic superhero, on the pages of "Frigidaire". Since then, his career has led him to work on some of the most iconic characters in Italian comics, including Martin Mystère, Diabolik and Tex, with all the major European publishing houses and various governmental and non-governmental cultural organizations.

His works have been published in several countries and translated into numerous languages, confirming him as one of the most influential authors of Italian and world comics.

The exhibition

The exhibition "Trame d'Inchiostro: Il Mondo di Giuseppe Palumbo" is a journey through the many facets of his work, with a focus on:

• or underground comics and experimentation: with works such as "Ramarro", which redefines the concept of superhero through a provocative and innovative perspective,
• or the most iconic characters of Italian Comics: with illustrations and original plates of "Diabolik" and "Tex" or the historical journey of "La sola cura" and Oblomov;
• or narrative and graphic experiments: including works created for the exhibition "The New Flesh – Italian Comics pays homage to David Cronenberg"

The exhibition offers, through an exhibition itinerary that combines original plates, canvases and unpublished materials, an immersion in Palumbo's creative process, highlighting his continuous research between tradition and innovation.

Desire and Transgression: Eros by Giuseppe Palumbo.

Giuseppe Palumbo's sign is not only narration, noir and adventure, but also a journey into the erotic imagination, explored with freedom, irony and graphic refinement. The section is set up in the Gallery's Privé and exhibits 70 panels for exclusive viewing by an adult audience: this area is protected by a door that prevents the unsuitable public from accessing the works.
