Sustainability project: the Hotel Delfino Lugano commitment to sustainability

Federico Haas told us about his hotel's many sustainability initiatives. Among the many choices, the Hotel Delfino Lugano has installed recharging stations, adopted inclusive training and joined Switzerland Tourism's Swisstainable initiative for sustainable tourism.

Environmental sustainability

The Hotel Delfino Lugano has been committed to environmental sustainability for years; the provision of car charging stations has been increased, the swimming pool is heated by solar panels and separate waste collection is carried out. We also respect the environment in our choices of mobility: the hotel has a fully electric vehicle as a company car.

Social sustainability

In terms of social sustainability, we are proud to have a deaf person as part of the team at the Hotel Delfino Lugano. Another point is the offer of inclusive apprenticeships for people with various disabilities. The company is also committed to employing mainly local staff and relying on local suppliers.

Sustainable initiatives

The interest and appreciation of hotel guests in sustainable initiatives is mainly related to the provision of several electric charging stations for cars and e-bikes. In addition, the hotel has been bike-friendly for several years. The aspects related to social sustainability are less visible to the public because they are part of the corporate philosophy, but they are highly appreciated by Hotel Delfino Lugano’s clients, who are well aware of them

The future

In the future, we will fulfil our commitment to Swisstainable and achieve all three objectives. This project is progressing thanks to the collaboration with apprentices, who not only have the opportunity to learn about the subject but also to understand how to implement a sustainable business strategy for the benefit of the guests of the Hotel Delfino Lugano and for future generations.
