Monte Generoso: architecture and nature

Lugano – Capolago – Monte Generoso

From Lugano, take the boat to Capolago where you’ll find the station for the mountain railway which will take you to the top of Monte Generoso. Once you get to Fiore di Pietra, the building constructed by the architect Mario Botta, after a meal at the restaurant, you can gaze over the awe-inspiring views and visit the nearby Grotta dell’Orsa with the remains of extinct bears.

The ideal program

Morning - OPTION 1

• Boat trip from Lugano to Capolago
• Cogwheel railway to the top of Monte Generoso
• Visit to the summit and the Fiore di Pietra
• Picnic or lunch at the restaurant

Morning - OPTION 2

• Departure from Bellavista to reach the summit (approx. approximately one and a half hours)
• Visit to the summit and the Fiore di Pietra
• Picnic or lunch at the restaurant

Afternoon

• Visit to the Grotta dell’Orso (3D experience upon request)
• Return by cogwheel railway to Capolago and by train to Lugano
